JAL Covid-19 Cover for Japan Airlines Passengers

Japan Airlines (JAL) is offering a COVID-19 coverage plan for anyone who flies with them between now and June 30, 2021. The JAL Covid-19 Cover is automatically provided to all customers flying international and provides support in case of contracting COVID-19 on your trip.

What is JAL Covid-19 Cover?

Japan Airlines has joined forces with the travel insurance company Allianz Travel, to bring security to those who must travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The plan covers international travelers by providing complimentary coverage for medical, testing and quarantine costs if they should test positive during their trip. They also provide a 24-hour support line that customers can contact from anywhere in the world.

The coverage starts when the JAL international flight departs and ends after 31 days, or when the customer returns to the country of residence. No application is needed in advance.

What does it cover?

If you should test positive for COVID-19 while traveling abroad, your medical and hospital costs will be covered under this plan. It will also pay for 14 days of quarantine accommodation costs (at an approved facility) and repatriation assistance for medical necessities due to COVID-19.

Who is Eligible?

Any JAL passenger on an international flight that departs between December 23, 2020 and June 30th, 2021 is eligible. The flight must be a JAL operated international flight, with a JLXXX flight number – code shares do not count. The coverage terminates once you arrive back to your country of residence.

So let’s say you’re taking a trip to Bangkok, Thailand. You could fly from Atlanta to Los Angeles on Delta and then hop on a JAL flight to Tokyo. Once you get on the JAL flight, your JAL Covid-19 Cover begins. You grab a connection to Bangkok, and you’re covered the entire time you’re out of the USA. You don’t even need to fly back to the USA on JAL.

The policy is terminated once you are back in your country of residence. The return flight home can be from any country, or airline, as long as one of your international flights was on JAL.
